I’m not a fan of peas. Never have been. Pea soup is ok on a cold day, but a pile of peas was never something I relished at dinner as a child.
But my husband likes peas. He speaks fondly of some combination of peas and salmon that his mother used to make.
So I ordered sweet peas in a pod.
Actually, it is Sugar Snap peas from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, 100 to a package. I popped about 15 into some warm water for a few hours, then snugged them into the ground.
But that’s not all!
This was the perfect opportunity for a project for Mr. Fix It.
The peas would need a trellis.
We found a nice couple of post from other blogs and printed off this one, then I put the Ohio ag. extension page on sugar snap peas on retainer in case things go awry.
Jim got some scraps and bought some pieces.

Trellis Placement
We wound garden twine into notches.

So it looks great and is just waiting on those climbing peas.

Trellis all set up
